How do I register a domain name?

You can register a domain name directly from your control panel. Once you have completed the application process, you will be sent an email containing account information and domain registration procedures.

I have a domain name that I have already registered, can I use this domain name for my hosting account with Uggle?

If you have a domain name that is already registered, you can either transfer control and billing for your domain to Uggle Internet, or update the DNS settings for your domain (details supplied in welcome email). Updating the DNS settings for your domain name can be done via your registrar. For DNS updates, you will continue to be billed via your current registrar.

Can I have web space without registering a domain name?

Yes. Uggle Internet offers you the option of selecting a subdomain of uggle.co.uk or aspnethost.co.uk. An example of the web address you would have is http://www.mywebsite.uggle.co.uk . Email addresses would be emailaddress@mywebsite.uggle.co.uk and ftp address would be ftp.mywebsite.uggle.co.uk.

I have a website and domain already, how can I upload and test my site before transferring my domain or updating the DNS settings?

This can be done via your control panel. In order to do this you will need to complete the add domain process as applicable, then select DOMAIN ALIASES. You can then add an alias in the following format: www.[accountnumber].uggle.co.uk . You will then be able to see your webspace via this web address. The ftp address will be ftp.[accountnumber].uggle.co.uk . Once you are happy with the site on your new hosting account, you can update the details for your domain name with your registrar and your site will be accessible via your domain name.

Will my website have any pop-ups or adverts?

No. Uggle Internet does not place pop-ups or adverts on your site. No reference to Uggle Internet is displayed.

I have an email address already, can I use my new email addresses on my account to send email to my existing account?

Yes. From your control panel you can setup email forwarding.

Can I use Outlook or Outlook Express to access my email account?

Yes. Exact details and settings can be found in the support area.

Can I connect my website to a Microsoft Access database?

Yes. Your account will include a seperate database folder accessible from your ftp address. Databases can be placed in here securely without risk of anyone inadvertently downloading them. You can either use a dsn-less connection to your database or setup a dsn (ODBC) connection via your control panel.

Do you offer MSSQL Express database hosting?

Yes. There is no charge for adding an MSSQL Express database to your account. Once your account is active, please contact support and we will allocate a database to your account.

Do you supply a counter I can place on my website?

No. We do not supply scripts to be placed on your pages, however, the Awstats statistics for your site will give you visitor numbers and more.

Can I pay by direct debit?

No. We currently do not offer payment via direct debit.

Can I add extra features to my account, including diskspace?

Yes. Extra features can be added to your account directly from your control panel.

I need to host more than one domain, can I do this?

Once your aacount is active, you can purchase a new hosting package directly via your control panel. If you require a custom hosting package, please contact us giving as much detail as possible and we will give you a competitive quote.

How long does it take for my account to be setup?

Account setup is an automated process and will be setup immediately, however, a percentage of new accounts are vetted by our staff to ensure that our servers are not compromised. Domain registrations can sometimes take up to 24 hours to take affect on the internet.

Can I place MP3 files on my site for others to download?

Yes. However, you may only upload files to your web space that you have the copyright to do so. You may not upload mp3 formats of commercial recordings of any kind.

What is FTP, and how do I transfer files to my website?

FTP is a protocol used in the transfer of files, in order to upload your files to your site you will need to use this. You can use most ftp software, although this is not necessary as it is possible to upload files through Internet Explorer. Details of setting up Internet Explorer to upload your files can be foud in the support section.

I want to place a forum on my site, how can I do this?

Our support section contains information on setting up PHPBB2, an advanced forum which you can place on your site. Other forums can be setup on your site as required. Our support staff can assist with setting up as required.

I want to place a form on my website so that visitors can sned me information, can I do this?

Yes. Using JMail a component installed on all of our servers, you can post information from a form to your email address. Full details are found in the support section including example scripts.

Can I cancel my account if I am not satisfied?

Yes. We do not have a minimum contract, and will refund all fees paid within 30 days of a new account being setup if you are not entirely satisfied.
